Any time you add a domain as hosted in some account, you usually set a pair of Name Servers to point it to that specific provider. On their end, 3 records are created automatically the moment the Internet domain is added - one A record and two MX records. The first one is a numeric address, or IP address, which “tells” the domain name where its website is, while the other two are alphanumeric and they show the server that handles the e-mails for that particular Internet domain. The website and the email hosting are usually thought to be one thing, while they're actually two different services. Having separate records for them will allow you to have them with different providers if you want. As an illustration, some new service provider can have superb uptime for your site, but you may not want to switch your e-mails from your current host and by employing an A record to point the domain to the former and MX records to have the emails with the latter, you could get the best of both providers. These records are checked whenever you want to open a website or send an e-mail - in any case, the provider whose name servers are used for the domain name is going to be contacted to retrieve the A and MX records and if you have set records different from their own, the correct web/mail server will then be contacted and you are going to see the needed website or your e-mail is going to be delivered.

Custom MX and A Records in Web Hosting

If you have a web hosting through us, you will be able to view, create and change any A or MX record for your Internet addresses. As long as a specific Internet domain has our Name Servers, you'll be able to change specific records through our Hepsia hosting Control Panel and have your site or emails pointed to another provider if you wish to use only one of our services. Our innovative tool is going to enable you to have a domain address hosted here and a subdomain below it to be hosted somewhere else by changing only its A record - this will not affect the main domain the slightest bit. If you choose to use the e-mail services of a different company and they want you to create more than 2 MX records, you can easily do this with simply a couple of mouse clicks through the DNS Records section of your CP. You can even set different latency for each MX record i.e. which one is going to have priority.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

The Hepsia hosting CP, which comes with our semi-dedicated servers, will permit you to see the A and MX records for any of the domain addresses or subdomains in your account and if required, to update any of them or set up new ones. Handling these records is incredibly easy since all domains/subdomains are going to be listed alphabetically, so modifying a record is as simple as entering it in a box and saving the change. Setting up a new one takes just a couple of more clicks and if you experience any troubles, you can check out our instructional videos on how to set up A and MX records. Our system is user-friendly enough to be used by individuals with no previous experience, yet sophisticated enough to offer you 100 % control of all records and to enable you to have different A records even for domain.com and www.domain.com. If you are pointing your emails to a different company and they ask you to set up more than 2 different MX records, you may choose the priority of each one.
