An Operating System is the software which interacts with the hardware of a PC and serves as the intermediary between apps and the hardware, including peripherals such as a printer, a computer mouse or a keyboard. When you run an app, it sends requests to the OS using an API (Application Program Interface) and the communication is done via a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI). Similar to a personal computer, web hosting servers also use an Operating System which serves as a host for all the software installed on them, including script apps or server-side software such as a flash server, a VOIP server, and so on. A virtual machine can be set up on a physical one, so you'll be able to install a guest OS on it and have a different system environment in contrast to the physical server host Operating System.

Multiple OS in VPS Servers

Our VPS server plans include three Linux distributions which you can select from for the Operating System of your new hosting server - Debian, Ubuntu and CentOS. In addition to being 100 % free, the OSs are extremely stable and safe and the key reason to offer the three of them is to ensure that you can run each application that you would like, as different pieces of software have different requirements regarding the environment they can be used on. Each of the three OSs is backed by a large community of developers who have made thousands of software packages which you can set up and use on your VPS. Depending on the Operating System that you choose, you will also be able to select between 3 different Control Panels to manage your web hosting content. Also, in case you decide that you need a new OS, we could always re-install the server with it. As a paid upgrade, we also offer weekly updates of the OS for optimum stability and security.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers

The dedicated server plans that we offer come with three different Operating Systems to pick from. They are all Linux release - Ubuntu, CentOS and Debian, and not only do they have no license taxes, but they are also considered to be among the most stable and secure OSs. We provide three different ones since each one of them is supported by a different community. The packages that you can add on your hosting server are different and this could matter if you want to install some piece of software with particular requirements for the hosting environment. In this light, the web hosting Control Panel that you can select for the dedicated server also depends on the OS that you'll choose. You can select any of the three Operating Systems during the order process, however if necessary, we can always install the server once again with another one upon your request. As an optional service that you could add to the package whenever you want, we can update your OS on a regular basis so as to keep it as risk-free as possible.
