An access log is a complete list of all the files that were accessed by the guests of a certain site. Every file which was requested in some way will be listed, so if you have only one webpage with three embedded images, one video and one embedded text file, as an illustration, the access log will contain a total of 6 entries - one for every of the 6 files that were accessed when the website visitor opened the webpage. A log usually provides the file name and path, the date, as well as the visitor’s Operating System, Internet browser and IP address. Oftentimes you may also find the referrer websites that sent the visitors to your website. The info which an access log file provides is in human-readable plain text format. It may be processed by special software on a laptop or computer and used to prepare reports on the performance of an Internet site, independent of the web stats that your hosting server may have generated.

Access Log Manager in Web Hosting

Our custom Hepsia Control Panel includes a section dedicated to various logs and the access logs are among them. When you sign in to your web hosting account and take a look at this section, you'll find a list of all the domains and subdomains which you have. All it takes to permit the generation of access logs is to click on a button that will be available next to each domain/subdomain. If the option is active, you shall see a download link together with the file size so far, so you'll be able to save the file to your computer and view it or process it with some app. Enabling or disabling the logs takes effect right away, so if you don't require one, you can stop it with simply a mouse click from the same exact section of the CP. You'll still be able to access the already generated content by simply clicking on the Download link.

Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you host your websites inside a semi-dedicated server account with us, you will have the option to enable or disable the generation of access logs with no more than a couple of clicks in your Hepsia hosting Control Panel. You'll find this function in the Access/Error Logs section, which you can access when you sign in. All it takes for our system to start generating logs is one click on the On button which you can see there. The function can be triggered separately for any website regardless of whether it uses a domain or a subdomain and you'll find the complete list of all the hosts inside that section. Any access log can be downloaded as a text file with only a click and you could then look at it manually or use some software on your personal computer. The log generation could be stopped by simply changing the On option to Off inside the Logs section of your Control Panel.
